PA American Water to Begin Flushing Lines in Jermyn

A Note from PA American Water:

Pennsylvania American Water will begin routine flushing its water distribution system in your area Wednesday, May 27, 2020 thru Thursday, June 04, 2020 from 6 pm to 4 am to ensure that you continue to receive high-quality water service. Flushing also allows us to monitor and maintain fire hydrants. This work is essential for safe, reliable water service and is in coordination and compliance with all federal, state and local agencies and directives. When crews are working in your area, you may notice reduced pressure or discolored water. If your water is discolored, wait until it runs clear before using. This should typically take only a few minutes. For your safety and the safety of our employees, please do not approach our employees while they work. If you have a question, please call us at 1-800-565-7292. For more information, and a map of the affected area, log on to our website at, and select Alert Notifications. Thank you.

Jermyn Recycling Clarification

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Lackawanna Recycling Center announced they are no longer accepting co-mingled items such as glass bottles, aluminum and metal cans. Just to clarify, Jermyn Borough contracts through County Waste, and County Waste does not take recyclables to the Lackawanna Recycling Center. At this point, there are no restrictions on recycling in Jermyn Borough.
